SPORTS DAY Well, what can I say! A magnificent afternoon. Sunshine all the way; massive enthusiasm from all the children and a wonderful turnout of spectators. The children ran like the wind, fully fit due to the challenge of the Draig Challenge. Then the parents--well what stars! A great time was had by all. The Victor Ludorum and The Victrix Ludorum were awarded to the boy and girl who gained the most individual point s overall.

Today has been an extremely busy one! Weekly certificates were awarded to the following children: Class 1: Madeline Class 3: Lydia, Kate, Rebecca, Emily, Caitlin and Isobel Class 4: Louis, Annais, Tommy, Jamie, Emma and Isobel In Class 1 certificates were given to children who had gained 100 points: Gareth, Cole, Luke and Madeleine Y. In Class 3 Silver certificates were given to Garce and Isabella. In Class 4 a Bronze certificate was given to Emma, a Silver certificate to Joseph and Henry and the first GOLD certificate was awarded to Jordan. POWYS WON THE HOUSE POINT CUP DRAIGS All the children are taking part in an activity called "The Draig Challenge." This aims to encourage healthy exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle. The challenge is to run around the netball court 5 times, 3 times for Reception and Year 1, to complete a Draig. Prizes will be awarded for completeing 25, 50 and 75 Draigs. The following have now completed 25 Draigs: Class 1: Ethan, Jack, Thomas, Matthew and Harry Class 2: Luke Class 4: Joseph Headteacher's Awards. Reception: Harry Year 1: Luke Year 2: Victoria Year 3: Lydia Year 4: Oliver Year 5: Emma Year 6: Martha The Swimming Gala. Good sportsmanship and excellent swimming provided for an exciting and fun competition at the pool this afternoon. A nail-biting finish gave Powys the edge to win the swimming cup. Well done to all the KS2 children!

What an amazing display of Easter Hats for the competition! A huge amount of effort was obviously put into the making of these creations. Well done to all who entered and the judges had a very difficult time deciding on the winners. TENNIS SUCCESS! Four children from KS1 attended a KS1 Tennis Festival at The Tennis Centre in Wrexham today. They took part in various competition against other schools and accumulated the most points and were therefore the winners! Well played to all of them!

St. David's Day celebrations took the form of a concert of singing, dancing and welsh-speaking. The talents of all the children were highly commended by Mr. Coope at the end of the afternoon. The children had also been taking part in competitions and the winners and runners-up were awarded their prizes at the end of the concert.

The first Friday of 2010 that certificates have been given out! After 2 weeks of on/off school we are now getting back to normal. Special prizes, very unhealthy sweets (sorry), were given to children who had produced the most interesting snow sculptures on the field. Non-Uniform Day and Certificates! At the beginning of the day parents and friends joined the children on the yard to make a trail of coins. Later in the day the coins were counted and we raised £170.31 for Children In Need. It was the start of a busy day with many children helping counting the coins and the Nursery and Reception children making Pudsey biscuits. Certificates were given out in Assembly to the following children: Class 1: Evie Class 2: Maddie Class 3: Grace, Kate and Oliver Class 4: Annie, Jack and Marion. Cookery Club has started! We have had a fantastic response to pupils wishing to participate in the Cookery Club. The club has already started, with the first week seeing the children make Garden Vegetable soup. The following week they had fun producing Herby Cheese scones. Everyone, including Mrs. Griffiths, Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Forrester have been very excited about this new venture and are enjoying the fruits of their labour. After half-term the group shall be cooking Roasted Vegetable Couscous. The children have been divided into groups of eight and each group will cook for 3 weeks. The children will know well in advance when it is their turn.

It is the day we break up for half-term and therefore the day when extra certificates are given out. A number of children in Year 6 have passed their Cycling Proficiency Tests. They have had lessons every Friday this term and are now safe to ride their bikes on the road. Powys won the House point cup. Class certificates: Class 1: Harry. Class 2: Bailey, Jamie and Kirsten. The football team played an excellent match against the Madras School but unfortunately lost 2-3. Well done to everyone who played. The Man of the Match Award was given to Tom in Year 5!
